Better Health For All (BEHFA), in partnership with the King Place Integrated Health Center, conducted a free Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening during a football tournament organized by Kingdom Embassy at Bamendzi Municipal Stadium. The outreach aimed to promote early detection and raise awareness on lifestyle-related diseases within the community.

A total of 36 participants received blood pressure checks, obesity screening, abdominal circumference measurement, and health education for the mass population. The results showed a growing health concern: 19.4% had elevated blood pressure, while 71% of adults were overweight or obese, with many also showing increased abdominal circumference (central obesity)—a key risk factor for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

These findings highlight a silent but preventable burden of NCDs in the community, even among younger individuals. High-risk participants were referred for further care and enrolled in an NCD WhatsApp support group for ongoing health education and lifestyle guidance.

With limited resources, this outreach demonstrated a strong impact and an urgent need for scale-up. With donor support, BEHFA can expand screening coverage, integrate additional services such as diabetes testing, and strengthen community-based prevention systems.
