In April 2026, BEHFA launched the Inclusive Community Sports and Health Initiative (ICSHI) in Bafoussam with a simple but powerful goal: to create a free space where people can move, learn, and support each other toward healthier lives.
Every Saturday morning at Governor’s Hill, community members gather for 90 minutes of group exercise, health talks, and shared encouragement. In just nine weeks, 23 people have joined this journey, with an average weekly attendance of 11—small numbers that reflect something deeper: consistency, trust, and growing commitment.
Women represent 74% of participants, and nearly 40% are adults aged 36–60, a group most affected by hypertension, diabetes, and other non-communicable diseases. Many are already beginning to change daily habits—moving more, drinking more water, and becoming more conscious of their health.
We have adapted along the way—simplifying tools, staying flexible, and focusing on real participation over perfect systems. What matters most is that people keep showing up.
This initiative was made possible through the support of a private donor who believed in the vision from the beginning.
With continued partnership, ICSHI can reach more communities and continue building a simple, human response to preventing chronic diseases and improving everyday well-being.
